Dear Writer: fandom5k 2017

General Stuff

I Adore:
  • Kinks
    • Femdom (F/m) is definitely my favorite kink. (I'm not a huge fan of F/f, though.)
    • dubcon
      • My preference here is for the female character (if there is one*) to either be in control or to struggle for it. Seeing female characters in het pairings actually submit is a big turn-off for me. (*If we're talking M/M or F/F or poly involving multiple women, though, I'm pretty much good with any variety of dubcon. And if we're talking monsters... go fucking nuts.)
    • older man/younger woman (or older man/younger man)
    • jealousy and voyeurism
      • I love outside perspective porn in which the character who's watching is jealous of one or both (or more?) participants. Maybe they end up joining in, maybe they fantasize about joining in, maybe they masturbate, maybe they're scheming on how to get involved (or break the couple up?), etcetera, etcetera. I love it.
    • humiliation
      • I enjoy reading F/m or M/m sexual humiliation (provided it's either full con or dubcon and doesn't focus on shaming the sub or victim's weight, gender/orientation/race, mental illness, or past sexual abuse).
    • feminization
      • Please only use feminization kink for cisgender male characters; please don't write me feminization kink that involves FTM transgender characters.
      • Con or noncon are both fine, but dubcon is spectacular.
    • biting
    • begging
    • orgasm denial / edging
    • And then there's the weird stuff (might be squicky for some people, so highlight to read):
      • tentacles
      • oviposition (male or female victim; con, dubcon, or noncon)
      • forniphilia
      • watersports (con if het or f/f; con, dubcon, or noncon if m/m or femdom)
      • mindbreak (of male victims)
I (Usually) Prefer Not to Read:
  • redemption of the villain
  • explicit F/F sex (explicit poly sex involving multiple women is fine, though!)
  • issuefic
  • gender identity or sexual orientation headcanons
  • anything sexual involving anyone under the age of sixteen
  • Alternate Universes and Crossovers other than those explicitly requested.
  • genderswap
I Definitely Do Not Want:
  • fem!sub (unless it's a relationship with multiple women)
  • maiming or loss of limbs, organs, or senses
  • gore, torture porn, snuff, necrophilia, cannibalism
  • anything sexual involving anyone under the age of fourteen
  • monotheistic religion (unless it's a major element of canon)
  • mommy/daddy kink
  • scat/farting
  • foot fetish
  • conception/pregnancy/mpreg/fempreg
  • ageplay or infantilism
  • A/B/O
  • character bashing or vilifying

Harry Potter

Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley/Draco Malfoy
  • AU - Canon Divergence
    • Draco has his Heel Face Turn earlier in Deathly Hallows (or at the end of Half-Blood Prince).
    • Ginny rather than Luna is the one abducted and imprisoned at Malfoy Manor.
  • Darkfic
    • Voldemort Wins AU
      • The Malfoys still ditch the Death Eaters and end up on the run; they end up in the dubious protection of the remnants of the Order and/or Weasley family.
  • Getting Together
    • Harry vouches for the Malfoys after Voldemort's defeat, setting Draco firmly on the path to redemption (and poly romance).
  • Smut
Harry Potter/Tom Riddle/Ginny Weasley
They're all connected via the Horcruxes--Voldemort made them, Harry was one, and Ginny was possessed by one and fell in love with one (Harry). Discuss. (Salon_Kitty's Where Heroes Rush In is my not-so-guilty pleasure, and I would love to read anything in a similar vein.)
  • AU - Canon Divergence
    • Tom Riddle escaped the diary without having to kill either Ginny or Harry.
    • Harry, being a Horcrux, begins manifesting Tom Riddle the same way the diary did and/or affecting Ginny the same way the locket affected the trio during Dealthy Hallows.
  • Darkfic
    • Dark!Harry AU and/or Dark!Ginny AU
  • Getting Together
    • Dark!Harry and/or Dark!Ginny AU get together with Tom Riddle (via diary, another Horcrux, Time Turner nonsense, or whatever).
    • Alternately, give me a straight-up noncon/dubcon, kidnapping/imprisonment, and Stockholm syndrome.
  • Smut
Harry Potter/Voldemort/Ginny Weasley
They're all connected via the Horcruxes--Voldemort made them, Harry was one, and Ginny was possessed by one and fell in love with one (Harry). Discuss. (Salon_Kitty's Where Heroes Rush In is my not-so-guilty pleasure, and I would love to read anything in a similar vein.) Please note that I'm only interested in reading about sexual/romantic relationships in which Harry and Ginny are at least fourteen; I'd prefer sixteen or older, if possible.
  • AU - Canon Divergence
    • Ginny went with Harry to the forest at the end of Deathly Hallows.
    • Alternately, Ginny accompanied Harry (and the others) for all/most of Deathly Hallows. (Particularly, I'd be interested in seeing Ginny go with Harry to Bathilda Bagshot's place in Hermione's stead.)
    • Harry chose to give the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's stone to Quirrell/Voldemort. (Or to help resurrect Tom Riddle without killing Ginny, or to help resurrect Voldemort during Goblet of Fire, or to help Voldemort get the prophecy in Order of the Phoenix, etc, etc.)
  • Darkfic
    • Dark!Harry AU and/or Dark!Ginny AU
    • Alternately, give me a straight-up noncon/dubcon, kidnapping/imprisonment, and Stockholm syndrome.
  • Getting Together
    • Dark!Harry and/or Dark!Ginny AU seek out Voldemort, and they go from suspected spies to trusted Death Eaters to Voldemort's lovers.
    • Alternately, give me straight-up noncon/dubcon, kidnapping/imprisonment, and Stockholm syndrome.
  • Smut
Luna Lovegood/Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley/Neville Longbottom
I would've been totally down if almost any of these two had hooked up in canon. I'm 100% on board with either Harry/Luna, Harry/Ginny, Luna/Harry, Ginny/Neville, or Luna/Ginny. (I'm a bit less sure of Harry/Neville outside of the poly context, but honestly that's probably just because I haven't really read any slash involving Neville before...) FWIW, I prefer poly relationships in which everyone is involved with everyone else rather than Vs or swapping or the like.
  • AU - Canon Divergence
    • Harry takes Luna to the Yule Ball instead of Parvati. Meanwhile, Ginny is there with Neville.
    • The Half-Blood Prince Harry/Luna not-a-date evolves into something more. Meanwhile, Ginny hooks up with Neville.
    • Luna, Ginny, and Neville get together during Deathly Hallows. (Ginny got left behind by Harry, after all, and Neville's right there being all badass right in front of her, so...) When Voldemort's defeated, Ginny still thinks there's a place for Harry in her life.
    • AU in which Neville was the Boy Who Lived rather than Harry.
  • Darkfic
    • They're all on the run in a Voldemort Wins AU. They have no idea who else is alive/safe (if anyone at all), and they grow closer as they try to resist the Death Eaters and stay alive.
  • Getting Together
    • Post-canon get together. (Movie canon in which Neville/Luna actually hooked up is fine!)
    • Alternately, see the prompts under canon divergence.

Original Work

Female Heroine/Male Villain
Honestly, this is quite possibly my favorite relationship dynamic. I might have a problem?
  • Darkfic
    • The villain wins. How does the heroine survive? (Please note my fem!sub DNW. I'm fine with power/dominance struggle and with dubcon/noncon in which the female character is overpowered/victimized. I'm not fine with scenarios in which the female character is forced to or chooses to submit.)
  • Established Relationship
    • He's the villain; she's the hero. They're still on opposite sides, but they're in a relationship now. How do they navigate it?
  • Getting Together
    • The villain seduces the heroine.
    • The heroine attempts to reform the villain, and instead they end up friends with benefits?
  • Smut
Female Human/Male Monster
Just like the last but with a monstrous (and possibly horror) twist!
  • Darkfic
    • The masquerade is broken. Humans are terrified, and are either being persecuted or trying to persecute their monstrous fellows.
    • Her family was killed by monsters--perhaps him, perhaps his relatives, perhaps his enemies. Maybe she tries to get revenge? (...maybe he helps her?)
  • Established Relationship
    • She's a human; he's a monster. Their relationship is weird and imbalanced and dangerous, but it works (for now?). Tell me about it.
  • Getting Together
    • How does a human hook up with a monster? Does he stalk her for months before making a move? Kill off his rivals for her affection? Does he manipulate her mind via magic/supernatural ability? Or is it just perfectly innocent seduction between a girl and her less-than-typical suitor?
  • Smut
Female Human/Male Eldritch Abomination
And here we take things just a step further. (What's an Eldritch Abomination?Note that while I nominated/requested "male" Eldritch abominations, I'm entirely down to read about utterly agender Eldritch abominations.
  • Darkfic
    • Apocalypse scenario?
    • Alternately, give me straight-up noncon/dubcon, kidnapping/imprisonment, and Stockholm syndrome.
  • Established Relationship
    • She's a human; he's the most monstrous of monsters. Their relationship is weird as all get out, but it works. Tell me about how.
  • Getting Together
    • How does one hook up with an eldritch abomination, actually? Is there stalking involved? Mind manipulation? Or is it just perfectly innocent seduction between a girl and her less-than-typical suitor?
  • Smut
    • Check out the Female Human/Male Monster prompts my SmutSwap letter; they should all be easily adaptable to this ship.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Fandom-Specific Likes
  • Willow identifying as bisexual
  • Tara Lives AU
  • Tara/Anya
Fandom-Specific DNWS
  • extensive details about comics canon (I haven't read the comics!)
  • incest or incestuous subtext between Buffy, Dawn, and/or Joyce
  • Kennedy (including Kennedy/Willow)
Angel/Buffy Summers/Spike
I'm not a big fan of Angel/Buffy or Angel/Spike, but Angel/Buffy/Spike is my favorite Buffy polyship.
  • AU - Canon Divergence
    • Angel never went to Los Angeles. (Something Blue with Angel still around would be particularly interesting. Does Willow's accidental spell leave a very bewildered Angel grappling with some very confused feelings re: the sudden onset of Buffy/Spike? Or does Willow accidentally prompt a relationship between all three of them instead of a Spuffy engagement?)
    • Angel returns to Sunnydale the summer after The Gift and helps the Scoobies to resurrect Buffy. She's still got Resurrection Depression™ from being unceremoniously ripped out of heaven and shoved back into a strangely unfamiliar world that has moved on without her, and she does her best to parse out (or, hell, to entirely avoid) her feelings for both of the vampiric men in her life. (And, honestly, I think the Spike/Buffy thing in season six probably would've gone much better if Angel was around. Odd thought, that.)
  • Canon Style Plot
    • Angel, Buffy, and Spike fight the latest Big Bad or Monster of the Week with copious amounts of snarking, flirting, and innuendo.
  • Darkfic
    • Canon got pretty damn dark at times, so feel free to go with canon-typical darkness. But going darker than canon is alright, too! Feel free to have any kind of tragic circumstances you'd like:
      • maybe Dawn died in The Gift, giving Buffy a whole different kind of depression
      • maybe Angel never recovered from his spiral into darkness during season two of Angel
      • maybe Buffy and the potentials had to abandon the Hellmouth rather than close/destroy it, and now Sunnydale and/or Southern California and/or an even bigger region is overrun with ubervamps
  • Established Relationship
    • Angel/Buffy/Spike has been going on for a while, but the Scoobies are as oblivious as ever to all things Buffy/Spike. (Maybe they think Buffy's only with Angel, maybe they've failed to realize she's in a relationship at all.) Give me the various reactions to discovering her polyamorous, vampiric relationship. (If you're comfortable with writing it, I'm fine if those reactions include canon-typical implied/light homophobia from Xander.)
  • Getting Together
    • How would these three get together? I imagine lots of guilt/uncertainty on Buffy's part re: the idea of polyamory, and I'm sure Angel and Spike would have more than a few hang-ups about "sharing".
  • Smut
    • Spike's involvement in the relationship is what keeps Angel from having another moment of perfect happiness.
    • More smut prompts to come in my SmutSwap letter!
Angelus/Drusilla/Spike/Vampire Willow Rosenberg/Vampire Xander Harris
All my favorite evil vampires in one big polyship!
  • AU - Canon Divergence
    • My preferred plotline: Angelus, Drusilla, and/or Spike turn Willow and Xander as a way to isolate, terrorize, and utterly devastate Buffy. (Willow and Xander retain/gain the vampiric personalities seen in The Wish, please!)
    • Alternately, the whole Acathla thing never happened, so the Angelus arc was not resolved; Angelus, Drusilla, and Spike were still hanging around by the time Doppelgangland happened, and Anya the universe manages to dump not just Vampire!Willow but also Vampire!Xander in Sunnydale.
  • Canon Style Plot
    • The vampire clan interferes with Buffy and the remaining Scoobies as they try to tackle the current monster of the week.
    • Alternately, Angelus, Drusilla, Spike, Vampire!Willow, and Vampire!Xander become the new Big Bad ensemble of season two, and Buffy and the remaining Scoobies (Giles, Jenny, Oz, and Cordelia, preferably, but feel free to throw in Dawn and/or Joyce or set it after Jenny's death if you really want to) have to figure out how to take them down.
  • Darkfic
    • See my preferred plotline under AU - Canon Divergence!
    • New Whirlwind, anyone? I'd love to see these five wreak some havoc in Sunnydale. As above, feel free to be as brutal as you like, provided you avoid my DNWs (maiming or loss of limbs, organs, or senses, gore, torture porn, snuff, necrophilia, cannibalism). Non-canonical and/or canonical character death is perfectly okay, and I'm so here for mind games and vampiric hedonism.
  • Established Relationship
    • Give me a variant on The Wish in which Angel was Angelus (via whatever circumstances you like--maybe Drusilla gave him a moment of perfect happiness, maybe he romanced Willow instead of Buffy, maybe he got the curse removed some other way, whatever), Drusilla and Spike made it to Sunnydale, and Willow and Xander were turned by either the Master, Darla, Angelus, Drusilla, or Spike. (And then Buffy comes in and tries--and quite likely fails--to clean up the Hellmouth.)
  • Getting Together
    • How would these five come together in that The Wish variant proposed under Established Relationship?
    • Alternately, "getting together" in this case could simply refer to Angelus, Spike, and/or Drusilla turning them!
  • Smut
Darla/Angelus/Drusilla/Spike
  • AU - Canon Divergence
    • Angel rejoined Darla rather than dusting her in season one; Drusilla and Spike sought them out shortly thereafter. (Preferably, the Master got dusted by Buffy as in Prophecy Girl anyway.)
    • Angelus never lost his soul; nevertheless, he still winds up in Sunnydale during Buffy's time as Slayer. (Or, if you'd prefer, he doesn't.)
    • Angel refused to join Darla in season one, but he also refused to dust her. So when he loses his soul and rejoins the Whirlwind in season two, Darla's still alive and in the mix, as well.
  • Canon Style Plot
    • The Slayer and her Scoobies versus the Whirlwind (and the Master?)!
  • Darkfic
    • Let the Whirlwind loose on the world. Be as brutal as you like, provided you avoid my DNWs (maiming or loss of limbs, organs, or senses, gore, torture porn, snuff, necrophilia, cannibalism). Non-canonical and/or canonical character death is perfectly okay, and I'm so here for mind games and vampiric hedonism.
  • Established Relationship
    • What is Spike and Darla's relationship dynamic? Do they have any affection for each other at all? Or are they just putting up with each other to keep Angelus and/or Drusilla happy?
    • Getting Together
      • Give me snapshots of what life was like after each new member joined the Whirlwind (how each previous member responded to the newbie, how relationships shifted, what jealousies were prompted, who got along surprisingly well, who never got along no matter what, etc.).
    • Smut
      • Just give me a vampiric foursome between a bunch of devilishly crazy and sadomasochistic villains. I'm fine with any/all permutations of Darla/Angelus/Drusilla/Spike.
    Buffy Summers/Spike
    • AU - Canon Divergence
      • Dawn dies in The Gift instead of Buffy.
      • Spike is not chipped by the Initiative but reensouled. What changes?
      • Willow's spell in Something Blue isn't broken until after Spike and Buffy have gotten a quickie marriage. (Feel free to handwave how Spike, being a legally nonexistent person, managed to get a marriage license.)
    • Canon Style Plot
      • Just give me a snarky/flirty Buffy and Spike fighting a Monster of the Week!
    • Darkfic
      • Dawn dies in The Gift, giving Buffy a whole different state of depression. Spike tries to help her out of it. (And hopefully it doesn't involve rape, unlike canon; but feel free to make Dark!Buffy endgame!)
      • Rather than waffling between so-called darkness and light in season six, Buffy embraces her dark side and her feelings for Spike.
      • Angelus turns Buffy during season two or Angel accidentally turns her during Graduation Day. Either way, just give me Vampire!Buffy hooking up with Spike.
    • Established Relationship
      • Imagine the Buffy/Spike relationship having been healthy(ish) throughout season six. How does season seven play out with Buffy/Spike as a strong, positive battle couple?
      • Joyce Lives AU. Honestly, Joyce's relationship with Spike was just about the only thing I liked about her; show me how she interacts with Spike and Buffy once Spike and Buffy are a couple.
    • Getting Together
      • My kingdom for a healthy "Buffy/Spike get together in season six" plotline!
    • Smut

    Game of Thrones

    Arya Stark & Petyr Baelish
    • AU - Canon Divergence
      • He recognizes her at Harrenhal and offers to take her to Catelyn. She doesn't trust him, so she demands that he help Gendry and Hot Pie escape, too.
      • It's Petyr rather than Yoren who finds Arya during Ned's execution.
    • Canon Style Plot
      • Literally anything! Plot where your heart takes you. (But I'd prefer if nothing horrific happens to Arya. For example, please don't have Littlefinger put Arya in Sansa's season five position or in the books' fake!Arya plotline. Feel free to have Arya wreak horrible vengeance on Littlefinger, though, if that's what you're feeling.)
    • Character Development
      • idk, make Petyr and Arya learn a few things from one another. Petyr can learn that, hey, there's some value to a woman other than Cat or mini!Cat Sansa; Arya can learn the value of subtlety and interpersonal manipulation relationships.
    • Getting Together
      • This is an & pairing, so this genre doesn't really apply!
    • Smut
      • This is an & pairing, so this genre doesn't really apply!
Brienne of Tarth & Sansa Stark & Arya Stark
    • AU - Canon Divergence
      • Brienne is successful in her quest to find the Stark daughters, but Catelyn Stark (and supposedly the rest of the family, save Jon Snow) is dead. What now?
    • Canon Style Plot
      • Literally anything with these three badass (in their own various ways!) ladies navigating their way through Westeros and the extremely hazardous plotlines therein.
    • Character Development
      • Brienne becomes a mother figure to the girls (and hopefully discovers that she's not actually too bad at it!). Sansa and Arya each learn that their sister does, in fact, have value. Sansa learns to defend herself. Arya learns that badassery isn't just limited to swordfighting and roughhousing. They find Nymeria in the Riverlands.
    • Getting Together
      • This is an & pairing, so this genre doesn't really apply!
    • Smut
      • This is an & pairing, so this genre doesn't really apply!
    Daenerys Targaryen/Viserys Targaryen
I'm not the only one who thought that the actor playing Viserys was extremely attractive, right? (I might be; who knows...) Anyway, their canon dynamic is gross and creepy, and oh my god would I love to see it turned on its head.
    • AU - Canon Divergence
      • Viserys doesn't get himself killed in Vaes Dothrak, so he's along for the ride when Daenerys becomes the Mother of Dragons and begins freeing Slaver's Bay.
      • Rhaegar dies, but King's Landing isn't sacked, and so the remnants of the Targaryen dynasty are not forced to flee to Essos. (Note that the line of succession would then be Aegon → Rhaenys → Viserys → Daenerys. Jon is not included, as he is either a bastard or born of a bigamous and easily legally/religiously contested marriage.)
    • Canon Style Plot
      • Literally anything in which the last Targaryens practice some of that traditional dynastic incest.
    • Character Development
      • Daenerys firmly ends Viserys' delusion that he is the one who will be taking the throne of Westeros. Oddly enough, having that weight off his shoulders makes him less of a crazy jackass. (And maybe he ends up realizing that he's actually the subbiest sub to ever sub. Please?)
    • Getting Together
      • Viserys always told her that they were meant to be wed. Now that she's the dragon queen, it's going to happen--on her terms.
    • Smut
    Jon Snow/Arya Stark/Gendry Waters
I'm down for either Jon/Arya or Arya/Gendry, and I'm always down for poly, so why not throw 'em all together?
    • AU - Canon Divergence
      • Arya and Gendry make it to the Wall. What happens now?
      • Rhaegar sets Elia Martell aside (or pehaps she dies) and marries Lyanna instead of abducting her (or eloping with her, if that's your pet theory). Jon Snow is therefore Jon Targaryen, spare to the throne of Westeros during King Rhaegar's reign.
    • Canon Style Plot
      • Jon, Arya, and Gendry fight wights and Others at/beyond the Wall.
      • Jon, Arya, and Gendry retake Winterfell with or without Sansa. (And if you want to add Sansa/Theon as a B-couple... yes, please?)
    • Character Development
      • Arya and Gendry help Jon make less stupid decisions up at the Wall (though, honestly, I suppose the majority of Jon's most stupid decisions are book-only...). Jon and Gendry help temper the worst of Arya's violent tendencies (or at least channel them into something other than assassination). And Jon discovers that he's undeniably bisexual. (And if you want to reveal R+L=J to the characters as a way to make Jon/Arya less incestuous, feel free. Also, feel free to have Gendry discover his own parentage without Melisandre spelling it out for him.)
    • Getting Together
      • Just tell me how Jon, Arya, and Gendry would get together!
    • Smut
